  • What is Office 365 and how does it differ from Microsoft Office?

    Office 365 is a monthly subscription based service that includes access to Office applications and productivity services including Skype for Business and Hosted Exchange, online email for business and real time document collaboration plus many more tools.

    Enjoy a fully installed Office experience across PCs, Macs, Windows tablets, iPad® and Android™ tablets, and most mobile devices. Each user can install Office on 5 PCs or Macs, 5 tablets (Windows, iPad, and Android), and 5 phones with Business Premium and the Enterprise packages.

    Based in the cloud Office 365 comes with 50 GB mailbox and 1TB of file storage.

    Where as “Microsoft Office” is the name used for the familiar software suite (disk version). Office suites have traditionally include applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. These suites can be installed on only one PC and does not come with any cloud-based services.

  • Can I mix and match different Office 365 plans to suit my business needs?

    Yes, you can mix and match Office 365 plans.
    Please note Office 365 Business Essentials and Business Premium all have a limit of 300 users, however the Enterprise E3 plan has an unlimited amount of users. For example, you can purchase 300 Business Essentials seats, 300 Business Premium seats and 500 Enterprise E3 seats on a single tenant.

  • Will Microsoft Office 365 work on my computer?

    Office 365 is not compatible with all previous versions of Office. You will lose the benefit of shared contacts and calendars and will not be able to use Office 365 to its full potential if you are not on one of these operating systems:

    • Windows Server 2008 R2
    • Windows 7
    • Windows Server 2012
    • Windows 8
    • Mac OS X version 10.6 or later

    If you are running a different operating system, you can still work with Office Online, browser-based versions of your favourite Microsoft tools like Excel, Word or PowerPoint which are included with the Business Essentials or Business Premium plans.

  • What if I already own a domain name?

    You can add your domain name to your Office 365 service to create domain-based email addresses. By:

    • Firstly, add your domain name into the Office 365 portal
    • Then, configure the DNS records for your domain to point to Office 365
    • Create any mailboxes required under the domain name you have added
  • Will I experience any downtime during the migration of my data?

    We try to avoid any downtime for our customers as we know how frustrating it can be. Your migration will be planned to avoid downtime and switch you over to the Office 365 services seamlessly. Your support contact will discuss a time that suits your business requirements and will keep you updated throughout the progress.

  • What is included in the Managed Administration service?

    Below is what is included when you register for the Managed Administration Service from Claranet SOHO. We will:

    • Add and remove users at your registered IT contact’s request
    • Assist your IT contact in configuring email clients
    • Assist your IT contact in configuring mobile devices
    • Assist your IT contact in installing office applications (providing the customer’s machine(s) has sufficient resources)
    • Advise your IT contact on how to use the self-service portal
    • Adding a domain and configuring DNS (If the DNS is managed by Claranet SOHO

    Non Managed Office 365 Solution

    For customers that purchase the Non Managed solution, Claranet SOHO will provide access to the customer management portal for the customer’s Named Account Administrator.

    It will be the customers responsibility to initially configure the Office 365 service including:

    • Adding their own domain name
    • Setting up all required users
    • Configuring their mail clients

    For Non Managed customers Claranet SOHO will only provide support in the event that the Office 365 platform occurs problems that require investigation. If you have any questions please contact Claranet SOHO for clarification.

  • Transferable data and settings with Office 365 Migration Service

    This is dependent upon what services you choose to migrate. Every business is different and is assessed on your business needs and wants. The table below shows what data can be migrated with your current environment:
